Band Returns to Morgantown

The band left Atlanta at 8 am Tuesday morning to head home. We stopped in North Carolina for lunch and then arrived in Beckley around 6 pm. The Beckley stop was to drop off those who we had been picked-up on the way down as well as a dinner break.

After arriving in Morgantown the members had to turn in their uniforms and any equipment rented from the Band.

It was a great trip especially bringing home a win.

Stay tuned for photos from the trip.

Halftime Performance

The WVU Marching Band performed selections from "Fiddler on the Roof" arranged by Director of Bands, John Hendricks. It featured Johnny Leonard on Trumpet, the famed WVU Drumline, and the Colorguard. This is an unedited photo from the opening of our halftime show.

Pregame Performance

The WVU Band performed "Simple Gifts" and "Country Roads" for Pregame. Here is the band in the state outline. I took the sound clip off since the sound didn't come through as expected.

Welcome to the WVU Band Sugar Bowl Trip Blog

No WVU bowl appearance would be complete without the WVU marching band, "The Pride of West Virginia." So for those who aren't traveling to Atlanta we want to bring "The Pride" to you.

Beginning on Friday, "Follow the Pride", as we provide periodic updates on the happenings of the band the whole weekend. These will be in several forms - audio messages via my cell phone, text messages when I have access to the internet, and photos.

We will bring you reports from all the band's rehearsals as well as the performances. The performances will include those at the WVU Fan Center, Nokia Sugar Bowl Mardi Gras Parade, Fan Jam, and of course, during the pre-game and halftime activities at the game.

Additionally, I am hoping to post interviews that I have with some of the members and staff during the weekend.

Please let us know if you have any suggestions or other ideas. In the meantime, we'll give this a try to see if there is enough interest to do this during the regular season.
